When we first stepped into this 200-year-old farmhouse, the kitchen felt like a time capsule full of charm, but in need of a refresh to suit modern living. Our goal was to honor the home’s rich character while creating a functional, family-centered space that felt timeless and inviting.
At the heart of the design is a large central island (for a family of 6) the kind that invites everything from pancake breakfasts to homework sessions and evening wine with friends. We chose a warm, neutral palette that speaks to the home's historic soul, layering in natural wood tones, soft white cabinetry, and aged brass fixtures to bring depth and warmth to every corner.
We retained and celebrated original architectural details where possible, while updating lighting, layout, and cabinetry to reflect how families live today. The result is a kitchen that feels connected to its past, yet perfectly at home in the present a space designed to gather, to linger, and to live beautifully. If you look closely, you can see the homes original 200-year-old barn beams added as a structural and design element.
